Q1. Name two places each in India where the following are located:

Ans1. a) IRON & STEEL PLANTS:-

Iron ore is found in large quantities in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Goa ,Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Iron and steel plants are located in Jamshedpur and Bokaro in Jharkhand, Bhilai in Madhya Pradesh, and Durgapur in West Bengal.

b) PETROLEUM REFINERIES:-

In India, petroleum refineries are in Mumbai, Cochin, Mathura, Barauni ,Haldia, Vadinagar and Jamnagar in Gujarat.

Q2. Name the places where the following are mainly found in India. Give their important uses:

Ans2. a) COAL:-

It is mainly found in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
USES:- 1. It is an important fuel, and provides us with energy.
2. It is used to generate electricity.
3. It is used as domestic fuel.

b) PETROLEUM:-

It is mainly found in Assam, Gujarat, under the sea in Bombay High, near Mumbai, Rajasthan, Krishna-Godavari Basin

USES:- 1. It is an important source of energy.

2.We get fuels such petrol, deisel, kerosene oil etc. from petroleum. 
3.It is used to make lubricants, plastics and cosmetics.

Q3. Why is it important to conserve our mineral resources?

Ans3. Our mineral resources will get over very soon. So they need to be used judiciously and not wasted.
